the district architect has selected a contractor to remove asphalt in some underutilized spots, fix and reseal the remaining asphalt, and paint new game lines. construction is expected to start on july 12th.
to prepare for the asphalt removal in the area behind the bungalow, we’re having an all-ages workday this sunday, july 10th, from 10am till the end.
we’re aiming to:
- move some plants we love (bay/rosemary/nasturtium, etc)
- move the worm farm, compost bin and other loose stuff off the blue boxes.
- empty the plastic container in the back area
- move it (under balcony for now?), and line with plastic/tarp
- move all soil from blue boxes to plastic container and wood box
- dismantle the blue boxes, move materials out
- move the cob carcass and other rocks/wood from back area
any help for any amount of time will be greatly appreciated.
bring something to eat&drink, hats, whatever helpful tools you can (wheelbarrows/big shovels, etc), and as many friends/family as you can!
merrymakers to entertain the workers are always welcome.
the submitted plans are on our web site - comments/suggestions/questions are most welcome at gsc at harveymilk dot com.

On April 4, Principal Velasco returned to Comcast Newsmakers to discuss the school’s Harvey Milk Day celebration and activities. She touches on the important role of social justice in our school’s curriculum and the continuing need to raise awareness around social equality and to celebrate diversity. If you missed it you can watch it here.
