After School Schedule Feb 25 – Mar 1, 2013

Tuesday, February 26th, 2013

The school day ends early this week, at 2:30pm, for Parent Teacher Conference Week. Our After School program is an Excel program run by the Embarcadero YMCA.

The month of February is Heart Month in the Excel after school programs. During Parent Teacher conference week the YMCA will use this extra time (with school ending 1 hour early) by having a fun week learning about healthy hearts through varies activities that include games, movies, arts and crafts, relay races and so much more.

Each day the YMCA will offer a new theme based activity for the students that will correlate to healthy hearts as well as healthy living. The students will be separated into two groups K-2 and 3-5 unless it is movie day, when we will all be together in the cafeteria. Program will be from 2:30-6:30pm Monday –Friday. During this week we will not be in the classrooms, except on Friday for clubs. Due to the fact that we won’t be in classrooms, homework will be starting later in the program 5:15-6:00pm.

Reminder: this is not a homework completion program we will be only offering homework assistance for those 45 minutes, if you would like your child to receive those benefits he/she should stay until the end of program. During homework time students will be separated by grades and the YMCA program leaders will be floating around assisting as needed. We will NOT be doing homework on Thursday February 28th, that day we have a two special events planned.  At 6:00 students will then have choice time giving them a chance to select one of the offered stations until all students are signed out.
