Good Eggs Fundraiser


Our much anticipated Good Eggs Fundraiser is coming up starting 10/1! HMCRA is partnering with Good Eggs, an online grocery that delivers fresh local produce, meat and fish, dinner kits and more delivered the same day. We’ll earn 5% back on every order this October and November, plus the first 5 new families to join will win a flower bouquet from Good Eggs. Walk and Roll to School Day

Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy will be participating in Walk and Roll to School Day next Wednesday, October 2, 2019.
To take part, please meet in front of the Castro MUNI station at 9:00am with your bikes, scooters, or walking feet. We will leave from the MUNI station down Collingwood St. at 9:00am and form a Bike Train all the way to school. Bikers, rollers and walkers will be greeted at school with a small sticker and prize.

We look forward to walking and rolling to school with you!

Garden Work Day

Sunday, September 22, 10am – 1pm

Everyone is welcome to have fun planting, decorating, cleaning up and helping with general maintenance projects. Getting your hands dirty in our garden is a great way to help beautify our school, and a fun, therapeutic activity to share with your family.

We will have plants, light snacks, and all the tools and materials we will need on hand.

School Site Council Meeting

Tuesday, September 17, 5:30-6:30pm, Room 205

The School Site Council (SSC) is the major part of the overall decision-making structure at our school. Participants are elected by their peers (parents, principal, teachers, and other school staff) to represent the members of the school community.

Annual Giving Campaign

We’re excited to kick off the Annual Giving Campaign, the PFC’s biggest fundraiser of the year! Help us reach our goal of 100% family participation and $225,000 by December 31.  Funds raised by the Annual Giving Campaign pay for art and music enrichment, field trips, and essential school staff, including a classroom teacher and a reading specialist.

Diversity & Inclusion Committee Meeting

The Diversity & Inclusion committee’s mission is to promote diversity and community within our school. Everyone is welcome to attend the first meeting, which will take place just before the first PFC meeting of the year!


Parent Faculty Club

The Parent Faculty Club (PFC) is our school’s parent teacher organization. We’re all members, and there are no membership fees. We discuss various issues about the school and the budget every month. This is where your voice can be heard! We’d love to see you at our first meeting of the year, so mark your calendars. As always, childcare is provided.

Back to School Night

Back-to-School Night is a chance for all parents and caregivers to meet members of HMCRA’s staff, hear from Principal Machado ask questions of your child’s teacher, and learn more about our school community. We hope to see you there! There is limited space for childcare but there will be some onsite if needed.

Back-To-School Picnic

Saturday, August 17, 1-3pm
New Location: Eureka Valley Rec. Center playing field – opposite the school. 

Please join HMCRA families and staff for our annual back-to-school picnic! The picnic is a great chance to speak with Principal Machado as well as school and YMCA staff, learn about classroom assignments, submit before- and after-care applications, and meet new and returning HMCRA families. The picnic is a potluck, with the following food assignments (no nuts, please!):

   K: fresh fruit and veggie platters
   1: cheese/ cracker/ lunch meat platters
   2: salads/ main dishes
   3: salads/ main dishes
   4: drinks (healthy drinks only, please!)
   5: desserts (no nuts, please!)
